Grape variety and wine: Tocai and Friulano

Since 2008, Tocai, due to complex issues of international law, has become Friulano. Many in the region experienced the new baptism sadly. It must be said, however, that the new name perfectly expresses the Friulians’ total affection for this variety: a glass of white wine (a glass of white) in these lands has historically been identified precisely with Tocai. The old name has remained for the grape variety: Friulano, therefore, is made from Tocai Friulano grapes.
Although rooted in the wine culture of these lands and widespread in the vineyards, it comes from France and arrived in Friuli in the nineteenth century. Genetically, it is Sauvignonasse, a close relative of Sauvignon, an ancient and prestigious grape variety. Although it comes from afar, therefore, this wine has become deeply rooted in its terroir.

Our Friulano follows the thread of elegance: it is a graceful wine that forgets all muscular ostentation and reveals a fine backbone; it is firm and rigorous. It combines finesse and structure, expressing the savoriness of the soils from which it originates.
